Our learning focus this month:
Religion – We will begin April learning about Holy Week beginning with Palm Sunday. We will attend the Living Stations and learn how Jesus had to die before celebrating Easter Sunday. We will learn about our family, the Church, and how we became members of the Church at our Baptism.
Math – We will continue to review adding and subtracting through 10. We will explore measurement. We'll also gain an understanding of numbers through 30.
Reading - Unit 7 gives us a chance to read about baby animals. How are they alike and different? How do you take care of different kinds of pets? Where do animals live? We'll continue to work on phoneme deletion and substitution and segmentation. We'll review /g/g, /w/w, /ks/x and /v/v. Our comprehension lessons will focus on identifying the problem and solution and the cause and effect.
Writing – We continue to write in our journals. We are working on expressing our ideas without worrying about spelling. We use our sound wall and our high frequency words to write sentences to that express our ideas.
Science – This month we will take care of eggs and watch as they hatch into chicks. We will have the opportunity to care for and play with the chicks. We'll also celebrate Earth Day and recognize ways we can take care of our earth!
