Math: We will continue working in chapter 7. In this chapter, we are learning the hundreds place in addition to tens and ones. We are also learning the value of a number, expanded form, decomposing numbers into tens and ones, comparing numbers, and ordering numbers. We will be taking our Chapter 7 test on Wednesday.
Fundations: We will learn the -nk glued sounds (-ank, -ink, -onk, -unk). We will tap, blend, and spell words with these glued sounds. We will learn trick words and practice writing sentences.
ELA:
Phonics: We are learning the /u/ sound spelled oo. We will practice tapping, writing words, reading words with oo. Our spelling words will reflect the oo pattern. We will also practice spelling words with the suffixes -ing and -ed, doubling the consonant before adding the suffix.
High-Frequency Words: We are learning new sight words. They are: after, buy, done, every, soon, work. Students will practice reading, identifying, and writing these words in sentences.
Reading: We are reading a variety of stories this week reflecting words with oo. Students will read and listen to non-fiction texts and learn about where our food comes from. We will read a variety of decodable stories and read alouds. We will focus on the sequence of events.
Writing: We will learn contractions with not (n't). We will identify the contractions in a sentence and practice writing them.
Religion: We will learn about Lent and Ash Wednesday. We will write our lenten promises and attend Mass on Wednesday.
