Math: We will begin measuring in Chapter 5. We will order items by length, use non-standard measurements, compare items by length, and use a ruler to measure.
Fundations: We will learn the glued sound -all. We will continue tapping and blending words with -all. We will write and mark up words. We will also learn the trick words was, one, and said.
ELA:
Phonics: We are learning end blends. We will practice tapping, writing words, and reading words with end blends. Our spelling words will reflect the end blend pattern.
High-Frequency Words: We are learning new sight words. They are: eat, no, of, under, and who.. Students will practice reading, identifying, and writing these words in sentences.
Reading: We are reading a variety of stories this week reflecting words with end blends. Students will read and listen to stories about where animals live. We will read a variety of decodable stories and read alouds. We will focus on topic and key details.
Writing: Students are practicing writing a how-to writing piece. We will learn the characteristics of a how-to writing and take a look at a variety of mentor texts. We will begin writing our own how-to. They will review the mechanics of a sentence and grammar.
Religion: We are learning about the Church year and seasons in the Church. We are also learning about Advent and how we prepare for Jesus' birth.
Science/Social Studies: We will begin our arctic unit, learning about the arctic and arctic animals. We will begin to dive deeper into arctic animals and learn about specific arctic animals.
