As we begin the month of March, we will be celebrating Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The children will be completing some fun Dr. Suess crafts and activities during the month. One of my hobbies is reading, and I always enjoy reading Dr. Seuss books to the children. Some of my favorite Dr. Seuss books are Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and The Cat in the Hat.
In religion class, we will be talking about St Patrick’s Day, when his feast day is, and some of the work St. Patrick did in Ireland. The children will get to dance and listen to some Irish music along with reading some books about Ireland.
As we await the arrival of Spring, we will be discussing some of the seasonal changes that we might see, hear, and feel. For example, some of the Spring changes that we might see are the flowers blooming, rainbows after a rain storm, and the birds migrating back north. Some things that we might hear are the birds chirping or a thunderstorm. Lastly, we might feel the rain drops and the warmer weather.
At the end of March, dinosaurs will be making their way into our preschool. During that week, we will make fossils of the dinosaurs out of clay, go on a virtual tour of a dinosaur museum. These activities are a fun way for the children to learn about these prehistoric creatures.
If you would like to send in a book or an item that relates to one of our monthly themes, we would love to read the book or display the item in our classroom. We are looking forward to the warmer weather and taking some walks around campus to see, hear, and feel the different changes that Spring has to offer.
