What's Happening in 1A?
Math: This week we will finish working in chapter 8. We have been practicing using make a ten strategy to add sums through 20. This week we will take our math test to demonstrate our understanding of these skills and strategies. We will preview chapter 9 which explores subtraction. We will practice our skills and strategies in centers and partner work.
ELA:
Phonics: This week we will focus on sounds of long e. The vowel teams we will work on are e, ee, ea. We will practice reading words with these sounds in isolation, short stories, decodable stories and the anchor text.
High-Frequency Words: We will read these words in isolation, in sentences and in stories. Students will practice sentence writing with these words.
Reading: This week we will read and learn to answer the essential question: "How do animals work together?" We will read a variety of stories to answer this question.
Writing and Grammar: We will focus on writing our constructed response to answer a question that goes along with our weekly story. In grammar we are learning about irregular verbs.
Religion: This week we will focus on Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. We will write and reflect on our lenten promises.
