Peek At Our Week

What's Happening in 1A?
 

Math: This week we will begin Chapter 8. In Chapter 8 we will practice addition facts within 20. We will practice making a ten to add. We will practice this strategy by using a ten-frame.
 

ELA:
Phonics: This week we will start unit 4 and focus on sounds of long a. The vowel teams we will work on are ai, ay.  We will practice reading words with these sounds in isolation, short stories, decodable stories and the anchor text. 
High-Frequency Words: We will read these words in isolation, in sentences and in stories. Students will practice sentence writing with these words.
Reading: This week we will read and learn to answer the essential question: "How do animals use their bodies?" We will read a variety of stories to answer this question. 

Writing and Grammar: We will focus on writing our constructed response to answer a question that goes along with our weekly story. In grammar we are learning about contractions.

Religion: In Religion we are learning how we celebrate Jesus.
