What's Happening in 1A?
Math: We are working in Chapter 7. In this chapter, we will be learning about place value to 120. Students are learning to count tens and ones.
Fundations: This week we are practicing tapping and blending words with endings -nk. Students will learn about sentences. We will write sentences and learn/review trick words.
ELA:
Phonics: This week we are learning words with long e, o, and u. Our spelling list week reflects this phonics pattern with review words. We will read decodables and a selection of stories that match our phonics skill.
High-Frequency Words: Our words this week are: ago, girl, boy, people, how, old
Reading: This week we will answer the essential question: What was it like to live in the past? We will read a variety of stories to answer our question and build background knowledge. Our story this week is nonfiction, "Long Ago and Now".
Writing and Grammar: Our writing will focus on adding details to sentences. We will practice writing an introduction sentence. Students will write a constructed response about being children in the past and present. In grammar we are learning about past and future tense verbs.
Religion: We are beginning chapter 6. In this chapter we will learn about the Church year.
