My name is Ms. Joanne Dougherty, and I am one of the Preschool Teachers here at St. Dorothy School. I grew up in the Havertown area, and I have also attended St. Dorothy School.
After graduation from Cardinal O’Hara High School, I took a part-time job and attended Delaware County Community College, where I received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts in August 2005. I continued my education at Pennsylvania State University and graduated in May 2018 where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies. In May of 2021, I graduated from Gwynedd Mercy University, with a Master of Science Degree in Education, Pre-K to Fourth Grade. I have twenty-two years of experience working with children, five of which have been here at St. Dorothy School as an aide in the preschool, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. And for the last three years, I have been teaching the Preschool Three's. I love it here at St. Dorothy School and feel that I have come full circle, starting my Catholic school education here and now educating the wonderful children in the community where I grew up.
During my free time, I enjoy watching college football (particularly Penn State), reading, going to the shore, and spending time with my family and friends. I am one of three children. My younger brothers and I are all graduates of St. Dorothy School, Cardinal O’Hara, and have received our Bachelor's Degrees from Pennsylvania State University. I am a proud aunt of two nephews and one niece, Joey, Jake, Anna Rose and Joey.
I am very excited to start my ninth year at St. Dorothy School and spend my days with your child. I look forward to working with the students, parents, and faculty. I can't wait to learn and grow from your child and watch them flourish every day! WE ARE, going to have a great year!
Hello Preschool Families! Since I will be spending time with your children, I want to share a little information about myself with you.
My name is Mrs. Maureen Boyle. I was born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia until the age of 19. I then moved to Havertown with my parents and 9 siblings. I worked at A&P/Super Fresh. After my husband and I were married, we moved to Upper Darby where we raised 8 children. I now have 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. While in Upper Darby, I became a member of Saint Laurence Parish where I remained a parishioner for almost 40 years. After the passing of my husband last November, I became a member of St. Dorothy Parish, “The Jewel of Delaware County” with my brother, Father Michael Murphy.
