Hi, I’m Ms. Henry and I am so excited to meet you.
This is my first year teaching at St. Dorothy School. During the 2022-2023 school year, I substitute taught in the middle grades at St. Luke’s in Glenside and Mother Teresa Regional Catholic in King of Prussia. I’ve spent the summer hard at work as an Archdiocese of Philadelphia Resident; a special program for new teachers entering the classroom. Currently, I am enrolled at La Salle University in their Master’s of Education program.
Before teaching, I spent more than 14 years as an editor in digital publishing. I believe fully in what Toni Morrison said about writing: “If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” But first, students must come to the page with curiosity, mechanics, and rigor. I’m here to not only get students excited about reading and writing, but to help build lifelong critical thinkers and communicators who thrive in the world.
Some fun facts about me:
I love bold colors, which is why you’ll find them in my classroom.
I graduated as a Distinguished Scholar from Arcadia University with a Bachelor’s degree in English literature.
As a teen, my Little League softball team went to the Pennsylvania State championship. We lost, but it sure was fun.
In my spare time, I love reading and finding independent books stores I can support on my travels. If I’m not reading, I’m looking for art inspired by pop culture.
I live with my husband, daughter, and our elderly cat, Zoey Princess Pom-Pom, in Montgomery county. She lives every bit of that name.
This year is going to be fantastic, and I can’t wait to learn together. Thank you for choosing St. Dots!
