Happy Summer Rising First Graders!
We hope you have a fantastic summer filled with fun, family, games, rest and lots of laughter. You have worked so hard throughout the year and have learned so much. We are so proud of how well you are reading, writing, counting, adding and subtracting. To help you maintain the skills that you learned we have compiled a summer practice packet that you can do throughout the summer. We suggest that you do some pages 3 days each week. Don't try to get it all done the first week and don't wait until the last minute!
The practice packet contains math, writing, and phonics skills. You are also required to read two books over the summer.
Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal
God Gave Us You by Lisa Tawn Bergren
Book reports are included at the end of the packet.
Your first-grade teacher will collect the summer practice packet, and book reports the first week of school. This will be counted as a grade.
Parents: We've also included a checklist of things you may want to practice over the summer. Please practice math facts, sight words and reading.
Happy Summer!
