Daily Procedures and Directives Our doors open at 7:45 and the school day begins promptly at 8:00. Any student arriving late (after 8) must be signed in by a parent or guardian. The sign in sheet is located by the main front door for ALL grades, including Preschool.
Students are not permitted to call home for any forgotten items, including lunch, homework or laptops. Please have them prepared for the day before they leave the house. If you need to bring an item to school for your child, you may drop it off at the office. Please make sure everything is labeled with their name and room.
Laptops must be charged each night at home. Students are not permitted or able to charge their laptops in the classroom.
All absences must be reported via phone or email to the teacher and the office by 10:00 AM. Mrs. Gordon’s email is jgordon@stdots.com and the office number is 610-789-4100.
Any child who is sick may not return to school until he/she is fever and/or vomit free for 24 hours without medication. This includes if they are sent home sick from school, they may not return the next day or you will be called to pick them up. A fever is considered 99.5 or above for elementary school students.
Any change in students’ normal way of dismissal must be received in writing, preferably email, by the teacher and office by noon. If we do not have a written request, students will be sent home their regular way. We do not call home to confirm a different dismissal that a child says he was told!!
Please try to schedule appointments on days off or after school hours. However, we understand that is not always possible. If a student needs to leave early, whether or not they are returning for the remainder of the day, the teachers and office need to be notified in writing or via emailbynoon. Please also tell your child that they will be leaving, what time and if they’re coming back, so they can tell you what class they will be in and be prepared to leave. Students have different teachers for subjects so may not be in their homeroom when they have to leave. Have them tell the teacher of whatever class they will be in so they are aware that their class will be interrupted. Students must be signed out on the sheet by the front door. No early dismissals will be permitted after 2:30.
Students or parents may not return back into the school building after dismissal for forgotten items. Doors open for the day at 7:45 AM. Any student arriving to the building prior to that will join the CARES group and be billed accordingly. Any student not able to be picked up by 3:00PM will be sent to CARES.
Absolutely no outside hot lunches are permitted & children will NOT be allowed to eat them if brought. St. Dorothy provides a hot lunch program available for K to 8th grades through the Home & School Association that is ordered and paid for online. Do not send cash in for your child to buy a hot lunch. The orders are placed on a monthly basis. Information will be sent via your weekly email communication from Home & School. Only refillable plastic water bottles are permitted in the school. There are filling stations on each floor.
Please park in the designated areas of the parking lot only, even if you are coming in “just for a minute”. This is for the safety of our students during school hours.
Please label all your child’s belongings! The Lost & Found bin is in the gym and will be emptied monthly with all unclaimed items donated.
