The State Fair Project has two parts. One part is a report and the other is a state float.
State: __________________ Due Date: Tuesday, May 9th, 2017
Students will research a state. Please find the following information and include it in the report. The report is to be typed, double-spaced, in 12 or 14 font.
The first paragraph should be an introduction to the state and should include the state name, capital, population, abbreviation, nickname and why it has this nickname, and admission date in month, day, and year.
The second paragraph should include the state flower, state bird, state tree, state animal, state song (if applicable), and state motto and the meaning. This paragraph should also include three interesting facts about the state. It should also include a famous person from the state and what they are famous for.
The third paragraph should include what the natural resources and industries in the state are. It should also include 3 attractions in the state and describe them. Lastly, it should include 3 foods that are popular in the state.
The fourth paragraph should include the Governor’s name and the names of the Senators. It should also include the number of US representatives and how many electoral votes the state has.
Please keep in mind that for the State Fair students may dress up as a famous person from their state, but this is not necessary.
Design a State Float

You will be designing a float for your state. The construction of this project will take place at home. State facts and information for this project can be found in state books, worksheets, outlines, maps, internet, and library. After researching, display the information on your state float. Write all information in your own words. The information you will need to include will be included as a checklist on the back of this sheet.
You will need a large box to create the float. Think of your float as being in a state parade. Your construction and artwork will explain why your state is unique.
Step 1: Cover box with paper.
Step 2: Decorate the top of the box with state facts and information.
Step 3: Complete all work neatly and check all spelling. Make sure everything in the float is labeled!!
