Mrs. Patricia McGee
Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, Level 1,
Credentialed Specialist
Please allow me to introduce myself to you and share a bit of information about my background.
First, I live in King of Prussia, Upper Merion Township, with my husband, Bob. We have been married for thirty-three years! We recently have become "empty nesters!" I am blessed with two lovely and extremely spirited children/young adults. Ryan (30) graduated with his Masters from Hofstra University and is now in his Fifth year working at Thomas Jefferson University as the assistant men's basketball coach. Megan (25) graduated from La Salle University. Her major was focused in Communication and Marketing. We are excited for her as she pursues her career working for Watch Box. I am sitting here wondering where the years went! It is true about them growing up much too fast!
I love animals and we have a eight-year old Cocker Spaniel. She is black and white and named after a favorite cookie! Yes, Oreo! In my free time I enjoy crocheting, gardening, aqua aerobics, eagle watching, biking on the trails and reading.
I have attended both Neumann College and Eastern University for my undergraduate and graduate level courses. I continue to further my education by taking professional development courses through seminars and Professional Development Courses.
I am very excited to share that I am a Wilson Certified Reading Teacher.
I completed an intensive year of instruction, as well as completing my Wilson student teaching practicum. This certification allows me to work one on one with students, outside of the classroom. The Wilson Reading System is designed for students who require more intensive instruction due to a language-based learning disability, as well as those who are not making sufficient progress in intervention. When implemented with fidelity, this comprehensive program provides multisensory, structured instruction in all five areas of reading (phonemic awareness, word structure/phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension) plus spelling.
I do weave components of the program in my classroom instruction as it helps to firm the children's phonics foundations. I am excited about this venture as it l helps me to better meet the needs of learners in my class. If you wish to speak to me privately if your child would benefit from the Wilson Program, please feel free to email me.
I am excited to say that I was selected to participate in the Philadelphia Zoo Teacher Advisory Council/Committee several years ago. A group of teachers meet at various times throughout the school year at the zoo, analyzing programs, providing input and working with peers throughout the Delaware Valley, to promote educational programs offered by the Philadelphia Zoo. I love the new experiences and people it has brought into my life as an educator.
As we enter the school year, 2022-2023 I will be marking my 18th year of teaching at Saint Dorothy's School. I am very excited to be teaching second grade! Our faith is so important and I get the honor and privilege of teaching your children about the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. I love the school, students, faculty and wonderful families that I have met. I truly love teaching and sharing my enthusiasm with your children on a daily basis!
