ELA: Our new story is Life in the Forest. This is an expository text that tells facts about real places. We will distinguish between the sound of long u and the sound of long e spelled u_e and e_e. This week we will blend and read words with inflected ending -ed. We will continue to work with our transition words of first, next and last in our writing. Review singular and plural nouns, and the author's purpose when reading a story.
Math: Continue Chapter 6 on Place value to 100. The lessons will be 6.3 to 6.6. Students will use tens and ones to identify the places value of a number.
Religion: We will begin Unit 2 in our Religion book. In Chapter 8, the students will learn that Jesus had many followers. We will listen to and discuss the story of Jesus calming the storm at sea. The students will also learn that Jesus taught us to pray the Lord's Prayer.
Science: We will begin our unit on arctic animals. We will learn about the polar bear this week.
Please take some time to review math facts with your child this week and use the websites listed below to help with fact fluency.
