Please take some time to review math facts with your child this week and use the websites listed
below to help with fact fluency.
We will begin our Pirate Math Program in class this week! First grade curriculum requires that all first graders demonstrate mastery of addition and subtraction facts within sums to twenty. This memorization must be done through consistent and regular practice at home.
Below are websites you can visit to help your child learn and memorize their math facts.
Skills this week:
ELA: Our new story is Cinderella We will segment and blend vowel diagraphs -ea. We will identify a theme in a fictional text and read and identify adjectives for shape and color in a sentence. We will blend and read words with inflected endings. We will change the y to an i and add the endings.
Math: We will begin Chapter 9 on Measurement and Time. We will compare size of objects and list them from shortest to longest and longest to shortest. We will measure objects with a nonstandard unit of measure.
Religion: We will begin Chapter 15, We Belong to a Parish. In this chapter the children learn about the parish community and its activities
